Great app for checking moves or opening names as a chess engine on a phone.

It is handy to have this opening database that is easy to use. The analysis feature is nice. I just wish it would show moves from the complete games.

I was looking for a way to brush up on my openings and learn new ones while on the train ride to work. Quiz mode is very helpful. Database seems pretty deep. Great app!

Most lines go just 5-6 moves deep, and there are no full games. It is basically useless for anyone rated over 1400.

This app is a great database of openings and games, and paying a couple of dollars for it is better than paying for a chess.com membership. I would just like there to be an option to rename and perhaps take notes on the openings, but this is still a good app. I recommend it for beginners in opening theory.

A must have, good for practicing.

This app has so many errors that its not funny. In quiz mode it tells you that you are correct when the data shows that you are wrong and it says that you wrong when the data shows that you are correct. Others have complained about this flaw but it looks like no attempt has been made to correct this major flaw! Too bad, otherwise it could be a good app.

The program doesnt allow you to begin an opening and thereafter make your own moves. I would prefer that I be able to play my own game after the opening as if I were playing a human.

Im far from at the point where I need to memorize even a handful of openings, and even I can benefit from this amazing tool. Its perfect for analysis, and for getting the hang of even the first three moves to see where you can develop from there. Im sure as I progress, this will become ever more useful, but Im already getting a lot out of Openings. If I had one gripe about this app, its missing support for landscape mode. Not only would that make it less annoying, it would allow the developer to use the screen more efficiently.

Excellent user interface. Great database as well. This was exactly what I was looking for. A must-have for chess enthusiasts!

One of the only one out there that let you search and learn the openings, see win loss draw frequency, and test the your play against the engine. Worth it!

I was looking for a database of openings that I could easily study in spare moments. I have some books which talk about opening theory and variations, these are interesting but I am not yet at that level. The most useful things I have found are videos from the Saint Louis Chess Club and this app. Quiz mode is fabulous, and you can quickly flip from the quiz to full openings. The only criticism I have is that the search function is not robust (if I type "queen Indian" it will not find "Queens Indian"). But its still easily worth the price!

I had a difficult time just figuring out how to study the openings - much less studying them. This app makes it manageable.

Excellent cool for improving my chess game

Great app and easy to use. Sometime I when I pick the right choice it says my answer is wrong and the correct choice is the one I picked. Please fix. Also I dont show the name of the openings after awhile.

It needs improvement. It has software bugs
